The story points are used to reflect complexity of a task, and over time the team gets very good at translating story points into approximate hours. Also, some teams that are starting with Scrum have the developers replace the measure of complexity with estimate of hours when defining story points.

As product owner, I need to have some level of comfort that the team can keep their commitments. If there is no estimation in hours, then how do we know if the team can complete all of the work they have committed to?

You should always be ready to push the code, but it is up to the product owner to decide when to ship product.

"One thing though: unless the project someone works on is highly classified, I see no reason for which, for an online tool, the data resides on an external server. Most of the project tracking online providers have much more reliable computers, connections, security measures, back systems that regular individuals have… And from my experience (basecamp from 37signals for several years and more recently with 12spints from SAP) I have no reason to believe that these guys are taking a look inside my account. No trackbacks yet."
You can more about this?

I love this topic. I interviewed a PM candidate recently who told me about her current "project". She updates a database with financial information and presents weekly reports to upper management. I asked when the project started and what is the final goal. She told me she took it over from someone else and there is no defined completion.

That's not a project!
